Our Parish has put an Endowment Trust in place. The purpose of this trust is to provide a flow of income to help support our Parish. The principal remains in place and the interest income is used for Parish programs.

The advantage to this Endowment is the fact that your gift continues to produce income for the Parish on a perpetual basis. Many people who give money to various charities do not wish to see the money donated one day and spent the next day. This type of endowment is constantly producing income for the Parish to help meet our many needs. Most successful charitable organizations have formed such Trusts and found them to be extremely helpful in producing much needed income.

The ways to give to the Endowment are many. Here are a few examples:

• Through your Will you might either list the Parish as a beneficiary in your Will or you may specifically ask that any funds go directly to the Endowment as a perpetual gift.
• Some people who may be making bequests to Our Lady of Peace in their Will might consider giving money to the Endowment earlier since most people will not only give to the Fund but would also receive a current income deduction which could benefit them today instead of giving the funds through a Will.
• You might remember the Our Lady of Peace Endowment when someone close to you passes away and ask that people remember your loved one with a gift to Our Lady of Peace Church through the OLP Endowment Fund or to the Parish Improvement Fund.
• Gifts of appreciated property given where someone is alive also receive a special tax advantage if the gift is given early to a charity. You generally receive a current tax deduction for the current full value of the gift, even though you may have purchased this asset of property, stock, etc., at a much lower value.
• Gifts of appreciated value can also be structured where a Trust is formed and even though you have given the gift to a charity, you can request that you, or you and your spouse, receive an income for life from the Trust. Here again, there is generally an income tax deduction plus you do not have to report a gain on the appreciated value of your gift.

There are many other ways that an endowment can be beneficial to both you and Our Lady of Peace Church. Please feel free to call the Rectory for additional information. One of the Board members of the Endowment Trust will be happy to visit with you at your convenience. We already have individuals who have made bequests to this Endowment and we are sure that many more people will find it to be well worth their consideration. Your contribution can be kept confidential if this is your preference. The Endowment Board’s goal, and that of the Parish, is to make this just another vehicle which can make it easier to help support our Parish. We, at Our Lady of Peace, want to continue our strong tradition of support and the Endowment Trust can be a great asset to our Parish over the years to come.
